Week 1 Class Expectations

 Hi! My name is Nate Usrey and I am a freshman taking CARD 101. My class expectations for this class are to become a better writer, have a better understanding of writing, and increase the level of my vocabulary. I feel like the transition from high school english class to college writing will be quite the transition. In my high school senior year english class I barely had any challenging work assigned to me so i don't think i was working up to my potential. In this class I expect to put in more work than I did in high school to achieve a greater understanding for writing.

I am also expecting to have this class on my mind almost everyday because I do not think writing is my strong suite so i might have to put more work in than other people. Another thing I expect out of this class is I'm hoping it will cure my procrastination. I feel like due to the limited amount of work I did in high school, this will class will have much more time consuming work which will force me to get it done. 

Lastly some positive things I expect out of this class are to meet some new friends and document my college life on this blog every week. The blog is one thing that definitely caught my interest.  I feel like that class can be very fun at some points but also very challenging at others. I'm excited to hopefully enhance my vocabulary and become a more knowledgeable writer.

Week 2

         This picture was taken when my friends and I went to Chicago. This was my first time going to Chicago so I was super excited and was ready to see what the Windy City had to offer. To start off the day we had an early practice so we were all ready to go by 12 and had the entire day to do sightseeing. We head off to the train station and take the 1 hour train ride to the city. Everyone was asleep for almost the entire time because of the practice we had in the morning. Once we get to the city, we walked along the river for about 30 min until we got to downtown and got to see some cool stuff. The first thing we saw I think was some sort of playhouse square looking area. Playhouse square is a very popular place in cleveland (where I'm from). The next thing we saw was the Trump tower. Week 9

     So last week my Girlfriend came to visit me and I was super excited because I hadn't seen her since I left for college. She flew in on Friday morning and I had to pick her up at 8 a.m. which was pretty early for me because I had to get up before 7, but I didn't care. Unfortunately, I had class that day so I could really hang out with her until after 1 p.m., but after that, I showed her around the campus and we got some lunch from the cage. After that, I had practice from 6-9 or something like that. After practice, we went out to Fat Rosie and got some very good Mexican food and then we walked around Downtown Naperville for a little bit before going back to my dorm.      The next day we slept in and we decided that we should go to Chicago and see what going on over there because we don't get to go to the city often. Week 8

 Week 8 of college and I finally have gotten into a good rhythm with school and soccer. Last week my mom and grandparents came to visit me from Ohio and we had a great time. We went out to dinner in downtown Naperville and I might have had the best mac and cheese ever. I forgot the place's name but I will take my girlfriend out there when she comes to visit this weekend. I haven't seen her for a few months, so I'm sure we will also have a great time.  The friendships I've created are becoming stronger, which is good because I was kinda nervous about leaving my old friends behind. Most of my friends are on the soccer team but I'm slowly making friends outside of the team so I don't think I have anything to worry about. However, soccer hasn't gotten any better. I'm still on the reserve team but I've been getting more and more minutes each game and I'm scoring a decent amount.
